Distribution Pattern of Dissolved Inorganic Nutrients and Phytoplankton Diversity in River Estuary, Kota Kinabalu Sabah, Malaysia

Nutrients are influenced by anthropogenic activities and consequently change the diversity density of phytoplankton. The spatial distribution dissolved inorganic nutrients phytoplankton were determined in river estuary, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Samples water collected from six locations estuary during month May 2019 to October 2019. highest abundances 86% diatoms study period. This was followed 13% 1% dinoflagellates Cyanobacteria respectively. most dominance species Skeletonema costatum, with 1186.69 × 103 cells/L Thalassiosira sp. (938.01 ×103 cells/L) recorded Station 1 (upstream) 5 (mangrove area) Chaetoceros (84.25 dominated 6 (control site). 4 (residential accounted such as sp., Peridinium Gonyaulax Cylindrotheca total cell 142.98 cells/L. high index 5.2 7.09 evenness 1.81 2.87 this estuary.
